What we heard at the CMAA symposium this year

We look forward to the CMAA Capital Project Symposium every year as an opportunity to hear from industry professionals about their everyday challenges and experiences in the field. This kind of feedback from our peers informs the work we do and the direction we take in creating our solutions.

Here are a few insights we gained from the event.

Flexibility and customizability are key

Several of the attendees we talked with lamented that their current project management information system (PMIS) locked them into a specific project workflow that oftentimes did not suit their needs.

They were also frustrated at paying for a big-ticket solution and only using 10% of its functionality.

Users are discovering the powerful capabilities of SharePoint for project management

SharePoint is so much more than a document repository. Many of the attendees we spoke with are just discovering SharePoint’s full range of project management capabilities. At the same time, many organizations are moving to Office 365 and adopting SharePoint online.
